Dream Control Help? ? Hypnotize Yourself to Relax Soon

I was going through some of my old junk and I ran across the November 1989 Volume of OMNI magazine (which is now a defunct publication but once was a rather entertaining Science/Technology magazine).

I can’t say that I remember all that much from this volume except for the wonderful relaxation exercise contained in the “How to Control Your Dreams” type article on Page 42.

Now I can’t really speak too much on the dream controlling stuff as I didn’t see through the entire 10 days of exercises, but I can say the Day 1 exercise helped me relax and daydream like you wouldn’t believe.

So… if you want to sleep, daydream, relax, take a break, or maybe even control your own dreams… here’s a potentially good start. :)

My bet says you fall asleep. :)

“Take a deep breath, let it out slowly, stretch your muscles, and relax.  Now imagine that warm currents of mental energy are very slowly moving up from the soles of your feet toward your ankles.

Feel the muscles in your feet gradually warming and relaxing as you imagine the currents passing through them.

Imagine that the currents continue moving up through your calves, into your thighs, through your hips, and buttocks, and into your lower back and abdomen.

Proceed very slowly, giving yourself time for each group of muscles to begin fully relaxing before allowing the imaginary currents to move on to the next are of your body.  Feel the muscles in your legs becoming heavy, warm, and relaxed and sinking down in the [surface] beneath you.  When you feel your legs becoming deeply relaxed, imagine the currents moving in a clockwise motion around your abdomen, up along your spine, and through the front of your torso into your chest and shoulders.  Feel the muscles in your stomach and lower back releasing any tightness or tension as the current passes through them.

Allow a feeling of general well-being to begin flowing through your body along with the imaginary currents as you continue to relax.

When the lower half of your body feels relaxed, imagine the currents flowing upward through your ribs and shoulders – warming and relaxing the upper part of your body and leaving your back and chest feeling completely warm and free of any stress or tension.  Imagine currents turning around to move downward through your arms and toward your fingertips, swirling around through your fingers and hands, and then moving upward once more, back through your arms and neck toward the top of your head.

Now feel the muscles in your neck and face gradually becoming warm and relaxed as the imaginary currents pass through them.  Then imagine the currents flowing out through the top of your head, leaving your entire body feeling comfortably warm, heavy, and relaxed, and sinking down into the [surface] beneath you.”
