When Did You Last Speak Well Of Yourself?

When did you last speak well of yourself? If you are to believe society and maybe even your friends, sometimes it can be tough to keep that internal talking, and stuff that you say to yourself when no one else is around, positive.

You know, when you make a mistake some people will say “I’m so dumb” or “I’m so bad at that” or “I’m such a failure”, but you’re not. You’re really not. You are trying things. You’re learning things. You’re getting out there and doing things. You are not attached to the results. You are a person living life and getting stuff done.

So ask yourself, “self, when is the last time I said something good to you?”. Me, personally, if ever I have a hard time thinking of things, I have some self talk MP3’s, kind of like a hypnosis program and I’ve got the YouTube video if you want to search for it. But it is just complete, elbows-to-the-wall, awesome stuff that’s true, and I that want to be true, and that is usefully put together to where it’s an instant boost to everything that makes me feel great. My wife and family and existence. It’s just great.

So, if I’m having a really hard day and I just can’t seem to get that boost up, I’ll go to the secret weapon there. Otherwise, stopping the bad thoughts and the bad words that happen internally right dead in their tracks. Even if you have to, out loud, when it happens, say “cancel, cancel, delete, delete”. That’s it. You need to interrupt that pattern of bad talking to yourself and just go straight into a new pattern of being nice and being truthful because you’re not a bad person.

God doesn’t make bad things. Whether or not you believe in God, nothing inside of you was made bad. Bad things happen, but it’s not you. It’s just things happening. So stay on the up-and-up and start saying nice things about yourself. You deserve it.
