I remember about five or six years ago, where it was very interesting for me to play video games. And I’m not just talking about regular video games. I’m talking about completely immersive online video games that every minute you spend out of the game, you felt like you were wasting a little bit of money and not getting enough stuff done.
Those games really exploited the inner details of game theory to get you to feel motivated to put more time and more effort into those games. They were wonderful examples of what focus and direction could do when you made up your mind to do it.
When you can turn this internal motivation to build up your long term goals in life and getting them done, you then realize just how much of an awesome future you have ahead. It’s really is amazing the amount of work that gets done when you’re able to put some real focused effort into it all. Let’s talk about that a little bit.
You Get More Free Time
When you’re able to have a greater understanding of your goals and where you want to go in life, you’ll cut out these things that don’t matter – like stupid online video games that suck your soul away. You’ll cut out these expenses that are related to things that don’t push you forward in the path that you want to go. That’s a key factor of importance here.
You don’t want to keep pulling yourself in this direction and that direction; you want to set up your environment to where you are pushed towards your goals. Where on those days when you just don’t feel like you can get things done, you are pushed anyway.
You are just so driven and gone down that path that you have to see things get done. And the more you get done on the more important stuff that matters in life, the more you’ll realize that you’ve freed up some of that extra time for other things that matter more. We’re talking family, fun, and more here.
You Get More Resources
As Isaac Asimov said something along the lines of, “you can’t write 52 bad short stories in a row. So write one short story every week and expect success in the long run.” This is very important now-a-days as we’ve come to be accustomed to the instant gratification that comes with technological achievement.
With your effort and work put into things that actually matter, you will get greater resources and rewards out of every bit you put into what you want to do. These resources could be money, they could be tools, and they could be people networking. It’s these resources of capital and relationships that can help push you even further towards your goals.
You Get More Mobility
When you get to the point where you know exactly what you want, you might realize that hey, it’s not being stuck in this cube. You might also realize it’s not being stuck in this town and it’s not stuck in this little apartment with a 50 mile commute one way.
You might realize that this advantageous position in another state is better for you all around. Or you might realize that your entrepreneurial adventure will allow you to still work hard but be able to do it however you want. This is a wonderful thing and can open your mind to the infinite number of possibilities in front of you.
Think Long Term and Make Life Happen
When you take a greater look at the long term goals in your life and you really begin to understand how wonderful things can be, you’ll realize more free time, more resources, and more mobility are within grasp. Take a little bit of homework here. Look at your daily duties, optimize what you do, and realign your path to where you want to go. It’s time to get up on out of the hum-drum, don’t you think?
