Pssst – Your Customers Think You’re Blind!

Pretend that you are wearing someone else sneakers and you get to see the world like you are that person. You can also pretend that you are looking through another person’s eyes and seeing things like that person would see them. If you were going through what another person is going through how would you feel, would it make you happy, sad, excited, or scared?

It helps having an open mind because you will gain others insights on things and maybe change your point of view. It allows you to be understanding of others even if you disagree. It allows you to see what they think and possibly be kinder and at least hear them out.

Being able to empathize and cooperate with other people is an important part of daily activity with others.

The above story and insights are from a go-getter interested in improving their career and business ventures. This is part of the RichardStep Steppers plan to get more out of life! Seeing others’ point of view is sometimes hard, but it’s simple when you really try. Imagine they are in your exact same position, and try to feel those same feelings that they feel. This helps to humanize people rather than make it so you don’t understand.

Spend as much time immersing yourself in that other persons world. Ask yourself what are their circumstances? Are there reasons beyond your knowledge for their POV? One of my favorites ways is the fill in this sentence…for ___________ to be fact then ___________ must be true.

Forget what you think you know, and be open to new experiences. Avoid assuming what someone else choices without knowing more.

How could you use this to succeed?

Putting yourself in someone’s shoes lets you see their side of things. If you look at your yard from the other side of the fence your grass will look greener. Walk a thousand miles in their shoes before you judge.
