I know if you’ll ask any of your friends or family or maybe your Facebook contacts and connections, they’ll probably say “Oh you know, just get a part time job or see if you can sell some stuff in a garage sale or what not.” Really and truly, my answer would be “It depends on what are your goals?”
If your goal is to get just a couple extra hundred bucks a month just to help ease the pain of bills or maybe have a little bit more fun and go out to eat every once in a while or maybe get a couple more goodies, then that’s really probably not the best way to do it.

Because you’re going to be trading a lot more of your free time, which is where you’re having fun and getting those things that you want, for a couple bucks to pay down stuff, which is really just kind of a nasty spiral to some place you really don’t want to be if you can avoid it.
What I decided a couple years back on how to supplement income or completely supplant it is to pick a focus and turn it into an online business and just stick with it. I listen to a whole bunch of podcasts and I forget which business one it is, it was probably Tropical Talk Radio or Internet Business Mastery or the Empire Flippers, but it was you put in your 1,000 hours of dedicated effort.
Which, if you’re only doing it 10 hours a week, that’s going to be a few years, you’ll start to success at that point. Up to that though, you might just be chugging and plugging and just having to keep your eyes on the prize that’s far away and take comfort in that fact, as opposed to seeing tons of money come in.
How do you do that? Well, are you good at making videos? Are you good at making audio? Are you good at writing? Are you good at teaching people?
Those core skills that you may or may not be good at yet but can practice and then figure out what you like best can be applied to any topic that you’re interested in and that other people are willing to compensate you for your time and help in.
Remember, you don’t have to be an expert, like PhD style, but you have to be expert enough. If by your own study, in your own understanding you are able to distill the tons of information that’s out there down into a core set of understanding that you’ve tried yourself and you’ve brought into the world and it works for you, that’s enough. You are several levels above tons of people that are familiar with the topic and that is enough. Quite enough. And you’re only going to get better at it.
Once you figure out the method of delivery that jives best with yo, it’s just a matter of doing something that you like already and turning it into something that someone is willing to compensate you for. I know there’s a lot of steps captured in those few short sentences there but that’s what it boils down to. Really and truly, that’s the only true, sustainable and eventually future-oriented or passive income/asset building way of getting extra income coming into you.
Do what you have to do to make the ends meet now but the more assets you can create now and allow to build up over time, the better off you’ll be in the long run.
I hope that’s helping you out there. Start building some stuff and get that empire going. Then money won’t be an issue. Have a good one, peace out.
