I have several test over at my website, and they help find personality and strengths and motivation, and communication skills, and stuff like that, and sometimes I’ll put a little feedback question, or something that is not really related to the test but, it helps me better understand the test takers and, get feedback on the website, or just general things relevant to my area of interests, and hopefully, the visitor’s area of interest.
Of course, you get all kinds of answers, twenty percent of them are garbage, or just completely silly stuff, but every once in awhile you get that one that’s just like, eww, that actually, if I took it the wrong way that would kind of like eww, oww, right there, oww.

If you don’t take it the right way, then it can just stick on your mind there and just keep drilling that hole like an inception worm, or something and just stay there, and ruin some time that you should really be enjoying life.
I had one today or, I don’t remember which day it was, but I saw it today. The question today was what advice would you give to someone that was on their deathbed that would, hopefully, ultimately change their life? This person’s response was, I would tell engineers to not make arses of themselves on YouTube.
I have an engineering degree, and that’s one of the many hats that I wear, and I have them do things on YouTube, and they came from a YouTube video all the way over to the test on my website to take the test to leave that feedback, and get some useful information. I just thought that was hilarious, Wow, someone really went to a lot of trouble, in these days of super short attention spans online, that took quite a few clicks to come over and say something that stuck on their mind like that. This is one out of 7,000 responses, but still, it was like, wow, that’s pretty funny.
Then I got to thinking, man, maybe I do act kind of stupid on YouTube, maybe I should clean up my act. Maybe I should do things differently, just completely change my overall view of things. Then, I thought again and said, wait a second, when I’m on YouTube I’m not an engineer, I’m not your neighbor, I’m not your businessman, I’m YouTube Richard. I’m silly guy that sometimes has some useful advice, and other times it’s just being silly, or a dad, or a friend, or a confidant.
If I was expected to be what someone has decided I should be in every instance of my life, wouldn’t that make things a little bit more boring and robotic? Wouldn’t parents not be parents, brothers not be brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, friends, neighborhood, coworkers, colleges, dreamers?
We all wear different hats, folks. We all have different states of being depending on who we’re reacting with, what we’re doing, and what we’re focused on. Don’t let the preconceived notions of other people get you down or get to you. You are who you are, the look that self worth inside, realize that we are all multifaceted pieces of awesome, and we have special times for each one. Think about that.
Thanks for watching, and if you think I’m being too much of an arse on YouTube, I’m sorry, but thanks for watching thus far, because that sure takes a lot of gumption. Have a good day. Bye.
