Registering a domain name is one of the 1st hurdles to opening up shop online. Some may think this is a very basic first step and you know what? They’re right. BUT it’s the fear of the unknown, no matter how small the step, that can stop people from going any further.
You’ve been thinking about having your own website without being http://awesomeperson718276.blogspot.com, right? Finally deciding to bite the bullet and go for soawesome.com, right? Wouldn’t it be awesome to be kelly@soawesome.com? All you need is to learn how to register a domain name.
In this video, I go through the process of registering a new domain name from start to finish. And all under 2 minutes! It’s more like 1 minute and a half… and maybe a little less if I talked a bit less. :) Having an account setup with Namecheap does shave a minute or so off the time, so add that to your total if you’re just starting from scratch.

I use and highly recommend NameCheap. They have an affiliate program that lets people who use their service recommend them and then get a small cut of each sale – at no cost to the customer. So if you’re looking for a domain name, consider going through NameCheap and my link here. You don’t have to, of course, but if you’re registering anyway I’d greatly appreciate it.

Need a robust, but slightly more expensive, host for your webpage? I also highly recommend InMotionHosting (affiliate link). I have all but 1 account with them, and I’ll be moving the other one when it expires.
