And now another edition of… How to Handle E-mail! This edition covers nasty trolls, or just trolls in general. Although I’ve never met an un-nasty troll so, nasty trolls. They are everywhere, and no matter where you think you are safe, what about your. Chances are, when you least expect it, there is going to be a thumbs down, there is going to be a comment that has nothing to do with your video; calling you a racist, a homophobe, or just an all around ugly person. And guess what? They are all false!

What do you do with false information? You forget it. You don’t let it eat inside of you. You don’t let it get to you. It’s not worth your time or your cycles. You are better than that. And most of the stuff is really pretty easy to ignore. But every once in a while you will get that troll, that troll that seems like it was just perfectly designed for you, and everything that you do.
That troll that mentioned something that you know deep down is not true, it may be possible, and really kinda digs at your biggest fear, or something that you know you need to address but just haven’t got too yet. Those trolls- THOSE TROLLS- Those are the ones that you have to ignore too.
They are so tough, though. Those are the ones that maybe require a little extra effort on your part to convince yourself that, “Yes, okay, there may be some good in that statement, there may be some good in that comment, there may be some good in that FOUL presentation of information.” That good is what you pull out of it. And good is what you focus on.
The attitude, the judgementalism, and the other charlieness, just goes away, with practice of course. It also feels kind of cathartic to block that person if it’s on YouTube, forever. Or delete that E-mail with disdain. Or make a video about how you don’t like trolls, and you ignore them, and they can waste their time all they want and you’ll just “Laaaa.”
But one of the things that you don’t, certainly, maybe, most of the time, don’t want to do is reply. depending on where it’s at. especially if it’s like something really important that has high visibility and not under your control, like an amazon review page. You might want to just leave that one alone and let other people who value your work to come in and give their two cents.
But if it’s your blog, your YouTube channel, your videos, whatever, you have complete control. You can leave it, you can have fun with it, you can show how creative, and clever, and aligned you are with your purpose by giving a response that both puts them in their place, and exhibits your awesomeness. You have that freedom and you have that right.
But most of the time, it’s probably better to just leave it alone. Although the occasional comment on a channel that you control, feels really good. Don’t be too mean about it, don’t be vulgar, but creative fun. And you now have methods of handling nasty trolls. Congratulations! Get your E-mail down, the inbox zero. Let’s start living life outside the inbox again. Okay bye!
