This is the kind of question that comes to mind when you know you need to have a presence on the internet to gather eyes, to gather an audience, to get people to come to you to see what you have available so that you can share with them, so that you can help them grow, add value to their life, and maybe even get paid for it.
But you’re asking, “Well, I heard that a website is the right way to do that so when should I get my website started? When should I launch my website?”

Some would argue, “Do you really need a website? Is your presence primarily social and you’re just hanging out on Facebook and Twitter all day and you are known for your YouTube videos and whatnot? Why not just stay on YouTube? Right?” I could understand that argument.
Unfortunately, you don’t own YouTube. While you own your videos, I hope you save the files, you do not own the platform. A website that is your own is something that you own and control and won’t just get swept out from under your feet because you accidentally violated the terms of service, subsection 87.Z, which can happen on YouTube or Facebook or Twitter or Pinterest, etc. etc.
Yes, I would argue that anyone that’s trying to make a lasting internet presence, especially if it revolves around being a business, needs to have a website and needs to have it very soon. When should you launch your website? Absolutely as soon as possible.
Google is going to ignore you for a very long time and until you prove that you are a valuable and consistent contributor to the internet space, you won’t have that traffic. You won’t have that following. You won’t even be indexed in Google’s search engine for awhile.
What’s the solution to that? Be consistent, be valuable, and be there already. The sooner you can have something up that you can contribute to, the better. It’s like building a house. You can wait as long as you want but the sooner you have a brick down the sooner you can have another brick down and the sooner you can put that roof on top and the sooner you can live inside.
Your website is your home. Get it built soon. Get it built quickly and then start passing out the address so you can have people visit. Get your website up. It’s cheap. It’s easy. Don’t even go with the free route. It’s good practice but just jump straight into the $5-10 a month things. Spend $10 to get your domain name for a year and set up your permanent residence and start producing.
There’s no time to waste. The internet gets bigger every day. The longer you wait the more buried you get. You need to get out there and you need to get there soon. Launch immediately. Launch yesterday and good luck in your endeavors. Peace out.
