Interviewee Responses
01) Describe (in your own words) what you think ‘teamwork’ means.
Teamwork means to me, giving up ones self for a greater goal. Accepting that there is a higher purpose, that cannot be achieved alone. Lending your skills to a group, for a common goal.
02) Think about a person you feel needs team-building training. How do you think this training would help him/her?
Team-building training would increase and individuals social skills. IT would also would help with depression and anxiety. I think it would build ones self esteem as well, when you see that your specific skills are needed in a group.
03) How do you think teamwork could help a company or business?
Focuses the company on its goals, It gets everyone on the same page. All working towards one common goal. It could also help weed out the weak links, those who don’t get on the wagon.
04) Describe a teamwork / team-building exercise or event you’ve been through at your work, school, or during training.
When i was in Middle
School we went to a outdoor park, It reminded me of an army training ground. It had one of those crazy big ladders. You had to help each other over it because it was too large. Everyone had a part in it, some people were on top grabbing, and some people who were already over it where there to catch others.
05) Explain at least 1 thing you’ve learned from a team-building exercise and how it has helped you.
I learned that it not all about me. I may think i have the best ideas, but there my ideas. I need to listen to others and formulate my ideas around others.
06) Think back to a team-building exercise you did NOT enjoy. What do you feel could have been improved and why?
I hate when you have to go around the room and say your name in a new team. Since school i have hated this. I feel like name tags work just as well. Ive done this with every group, and im sure its not needed to develop relationships.
07) Describe what you like most about team-building efforts and training.
Getting away from work, and interacting with my coworkers. I’d categorize party’s and get together as team building. When someone has a birthday and we all gather to eat and talk, that’s the most team building experience to me.
08) What are a few things you like least about team-building efforts and why?
Having to go beyond yourself, step out of your comfort zone. A lot of times its not easy to not get your way, or maybe have the amount of input you desire. It can take a lot of effort if your not that kind of person.
09) When learning about team-building, would you rather read about it, listen to a trainer, watch training videos, or physically participate in an event? Describe why you feel that way.
I guess physically participate, even though that kind of goes against my previous answer. But if your gathered around in a communal setting just talking, or fleshing out ideas. That is ideally my best team building scenario.
10) Pretend you are asked to give a quick team-building presentation at work. What are your first couple of steps to get prepared?
First i would need to make sure i have all the proper information on those attending. I would need to have an upbeat attitude, and a friendly demeanor. Also make sure i listen carefully, to show the best example of what a team member can be.
11) In your opinion, what type or personality of person do you think could benefit most from team-building efforts?
An anti-social person, they tend to keep to themselves. I think team building activities would benefit this type of person greatly. IT would get them out of their comfort zones and interacting with others. I’m that type of person and i bet team building would be great for me.
