Interviewee Responses
01) Describe (in your own words) what you think ‘teamwork’ means.
Teamwork is working together. It involves working in a team of 2 or more. It is willingness to make sacrifices to achieve group goals.
02) Think about a person you feel needs team-building training. How do you think this training would help him/her?
My work involves teamwork to work well. There is one person who is kind of anti social. He does not communicate well. I think teamwork would help him so things would work even smoother when he is on my team.
03) How do you think teamwork could help a company or business?
With teamwork training, employees are taught that working together is most important. They will be more willing to make sacrifices if they go through some sort of team building training. They might also learn to better resolve problems.
04) Describe a teamwork / team-building exercise or event you’ve been through at your work, school, or during training.
We go through training a lot. We have classes we have to attend where we have to role play. Different scenarios are played out and we have to practice what we would do in that situation. Therefore when those situations arrive, we are ready to conquer them.
05) Explain at least 1 thing you’ve learned from a team-building exercise and how it has helped you.
I’ve learned to better accept people’s shortcomings. I am very impatient. They have taught me to calm down a little bit more.
06) Think back to a team-building exercise you did NOT enjoy. What do you feel could have been improved and why?
I don’t like performing in front of the whole class. I think it’s counterproductive. It just makes me wary of the classes.
07) Describe what you like most about team-building efforts and training.
I like getting time off of work honestly. It makes me more receptive towards what is being taught. That is as long as no public speaking is involved.
08) What are a few things you like least about team-building efforts and why?
Sometimes I have to work with people that I don’t like. I wish that I could pick my own group. That is pretty much the only thing besides public speaking.
09) When learning about team-building, would you rather read about it, listen to a trainer, watch training videos, or physically participate in an event? Describe why you feel that way.
I would rather listen to a trainer. however, I know that some group work is important. This way with hands on it is easier to simulate situations we will encounter.
10) Pretend you are asked to give a quick team-building presentation at work. What are your first couple of steps to get prepared?
I would probably read over my syllabus. Then I would get feedback from others. Then I would brainstorm. I would prepare notes for sure.
11) In your opinion, what type or personality of person do you think could benefit most from team-building efforts?
Anyone can benefit. However, probably those who don’t get along with others would most benefit. Shy people might benefit as long as they are not pushed too much.
