Traveling – would it be with a Nintendo or a dog… it is hard to say but I am wondering why we have come to rely on our gadgets so much. We go on vacations to get away from it all… the hustle and the bustle. And for some reason we tend to bring those things along with us. Get away from it all people – let go and relax… feel the cool breeze of the air in whatever faraway place you go… and it really doesn’t even have to be that far away it just need to be someplace different.
Now what if we were to bring our dogs along with us… or pets or boa constrictors of what-have-you it doesn’t matter… I just want people to focus on the “living breathing” aspect here. You would be forced to cave to the whims of a family member of sorts. That little guy who only seeks to fulfill his immediate needs and make sure you are dog-gone happy doing it, too.
He doesn’t care what the other dogs are thinking about… sure he doesn’t have any bills to pay or any such nonsense as that. Do you really need those things when you are off and trying to not think about those things either?
Just go with the dog. See the park for the trees and the grass… not for what they are to a scientist but what they are for a dog… a restroom, a bed, a snack, a back-scratcher, and a really cool mat to run along as your master throws stuff to entertain you. See the world from the eyes of your pet and see the world in a different way.
Isn’t that what getting away is about? Stopping the routine… making a sort of blank slate so that when you come back to the grind it seems just a bit more interesting for a while… at least until your next vacation. I say go with the dogs and see the view from down there – there’s something to be said about seeing things from on high. You forget what the little things mean to people and dare I say what they used to mean to you.
Get down folks… get down now and break free from the grip that technology has on you.
