Every day, millions of human beings face a physically impossible task. One that they can’t bear to take. It’s not that they don’t want to… it’s not, necessarily, that they don’t know how to. They just can’t build up the strength to carry on. Who are these folks, you wonder?
Infants.
Not knowing how to walk is a scary thing. Something you’ve come to rely on for every step of your day. To the bathroom, to work, to school, to the break-room. What would a day without walking be like? Or scarier, yet… what would a day without confidence in walking be like? To know you’ve done it and can do it, but then cripple your own progress.
Your Legs in Mind – Will Travel
Since you were born, you’ve done a lot of tasks. You’ve learned so much and filed away so many lessons. Where would you be today without the things that you’ve learned? Probably in a crib, diapered, and screaming for some milk!
Yet, how often do you choose to recognize the power you’ve been given? An unlimited storehouse of learning, growing, and doing – tucked neatly inside your skull. And once trusted, it can transform your life. Your unconscious mind is that hidden, never ceasing, juggernaut that enables you to do what you do all day.
Breathing, metabolizing, sweating, growing, making blood, seeing, processing, digesting, moving, balancing, communicating… each contains hundreds of tiny steps. But, your unconscious mind does it all without batting an eye… actually – it does that, too!
Ah, but that’s all physical stuff that doesn’t really matter, you say. You know you need that stuff and you do trust your unconscious mind to do that for you. What does this have to do with thinking, memory, ideas, and the likes, you ask?
Everything.
Soak Up the Rain; Don’t Sip the Cup
Don’t think you’re biased to ignore or neglect the unconscious mind? Take a look at the term commonly used to talk about it: “subconscious mind.” Curious… What exactly is it SUBordinate to? The conscious mind? That limited, though useful, thing that can only handle 4 main tasks at a time?
Ha! Here’s the real scoop.
‘Sub’-conscious my left toe in my fluffy yellow sock! You are bombarded with over 2 MILLION bits of data at any given moment. 4 of those are processed consciously. Guess what takes a stab at the rest of them?
Numbers a bit much to grasp? Imagine it’s raining in your town. You set a coffee mug on your back-porch. The amount of rain you catch in the mug over a 10 minute rain-storm is what your conscious mind grabs. The rest is soaked up by your unconscious mind.
Now hang up that critical voice (a conscious mind thing) for a second or more. Consider this for a while: what if you had access to everything you’ve ever come across your entire life? What if everything useful to you, from this point on, you would recall on request?
Think your life would be any different? How, specifically, could you take on the daily challenges in your path?
Your abilities are capped by your ability to comprehend the ability of your unconscious mind. Believe it or don’t but those who are at the top of their game have learned to trust in themselves. In their experiences, their learnings, and their growth. You can do this, too.
And you will soon! It’s a choice you consciously make.
I’m sure you’ll find many ways to more fully use your unconscious mind. For now, I’d like to tell you a little story that’ll help a little… or maybe a whole lot! Watch the video below:

Make the Conscious Decision to ‘un-Sub’ Your Unconscious
What was once impossible, quickly becomes the accepted. Just as soon as you could walk, you started to jump, roll, skip, and ride a bike. That one little tool that held you back from scooting across the living room floor would be yours with a little bit of effort.
Doors swung wide open and the soles of your shoes wore out quicker than the time it took you to trust your unconscious learning to walk. A new you, in shoes. Ready to take on the world.
Trust in your unconscious mind – walking is only the beginning.
