A person must set realistic goals for themselves and accomplish them if they want to increase their level of self-esteem. Building self-confidence is an important trait that can increase and maximize a person’s success levels. With proper confidence, people will be more willing to follow a person in their chosen endeavor.
The most important part of building self-confidence is it allows a person to attempt tasks that they otherwise would not. This allows for an individual to push themselves further and attain more. These successes will in turn generate more self-confidence and allow the cycle to continue.
I asked readers, researchers, and curious folks like yourself what they felt was most important about this topic. What follows is a combination of some of the better answers in a long series of interview-format articles. The answers are raw, personal, and hopefully add some insight to your life.
Today’s Focus: Building Self Confidence
R: To you, what are some of the biggest benefits usually associated with this topic?
I: Having self-confidence is one of the most important things in the world. Growing up I was very shy and did not have much confidence in myself. As I grew older and started to realize I was worthwhile the world opens up and becomes a lot more fun. You need to realize that everyone has self-doubt and when you overcome your own doubts many things open up to you and life becomes a blast.
R: Think about the topic for a bit – describe what’s so special about it for most folks?
I: Building confidence can help a person feel better about themselves. This may lead them to perform better at work or on an interview, leading to better performance, raises or job offers in their field. More confidence can also lead to better interactions with other people including coworkers, romantic partners or family. Confident people are seen in a more positive light.
R: Explain what about this subject could help people be just all around better.
I: You should try and be as confident as you can be. Being self-confident can help you build relationships that will last a long time and go further in life. Don’t be too over the top self-confident, but make sure that you’re putting yourself first.
R: Who out there is a good example of using this subject to the fullest?
I: A person who knows that they can change their life and is willing to work at is will have the most success at building self-confidence. Building self-confidence is not easy and takes a lot of work. It’s worth it though if it helps a person reach their potential.
R: Describe who least exemplifies the core meaning of this topic to you.
I: Someone who is suffering from a mental condition may not be able to use or understand how to build self-confidence. They may need help from a doctor or therapist to rebuild a little to help them gain enough drive to do the things to help build self-confidence. Also, people who look at the information and say that it is not going to work, or are skeptical may not be able to use the information correctly. For something like this to work, the people need to trust that it will work and do what it says to the best of their ability.
R: How could the average person plan to bring this topic into the stuff they do on a daily basis?
I: You can usually find answers to anything on the internet. Also, searching on online resources.com will find you a lot of books on building self-confidence. I recommend checking out Albert Ellis.
R: How would you describe the best time to make this topic part of your life?
I: A good time to bring this up is if someone is struggling in interviews. Interviews are very hard on people who do not have self-confidence and are not able to sell themselves to the employer. Having self-confidence and building it can make them interview better and not be as nervous, as well as be able to talk themselves up to make them look better than someone who lacks self-confidence.
R: Are there any times when you think it is a bad idea to bring this topic into our lives?
I: There are few situations personally or professionally that building self-confidence is a bad idea. But if there were such a situation it would be shortly after a witnessing a poor performance in a colleague or personal associate due to over confidence. Otherwise more self-confidence is always a good thing.
R: Where’s the best place someone can bring this topic into their life?
I: A team building exercise. You can get results during a corporate training or convention. A business meeting can talk about the importance of self as well.
R: Where is this subject considered inappropriate for practice or use, in your opinion?
I: If someone tries to build their self-confidence by bragging or making themselves sound better than they are it can and probably will have a negative outcome. People don’t like that. They won’t want to talk to you and you’ll lose friends.
R: Give me an example of who you think should look into this subject more?
I: Anyone who has low self-confidence could benefit from understanding this topic. Most kids growing up could use this whether they have self-confidence or not. It could help the kids to have it build more and would help the ones who have it understand why they have good self-confidence.
R: If you could only give one piece of advice for this folks out there, what would it be?
I: Sometimes our faith flags, and we start asking the ‘why me’ question. Why me? Why must people suffer? We can’t answer such things, and the questions themselves often are designed more to express our ANGUISH and TEARS than to search, and solicit an answer.
R: Share with us your thoughts on what’s most damaging when it comes to this subject.
I: Building self-confidence is a useful exercise for many people. People who need more self-confidence should avoid trying to learn more about it in group situations. I think that a one-on-one event leads to using more assertiveness.
R: This topic is broad and the readers will need some focus. Can you help guide them along with an example of what to do next?
I: to become more confident in yourself, it is important to tell yourself that you can do it. weather you can or not! Believe in yourself, that is very important
