You know those stupid slumps in life that get us crawling? They tend to get in the way and just bring our productivity completely down to nothing. This usually happens to me when I have 18 different things going on at one time…like mortgage refinance, kids starting school again and trips to see grandma.
These are all very important things, but without proper control of my mood, I would just lay down on the couch and give up.
But you don’t have to do that and I don’t have to anymore either because I’ve got four tips to help regain control of our moods and get some awesome productivity going. This is so important to us because we can keep on keeping on, hop on up off that couch and get stuff done.
1) Meditate For A Few Minutes
Now I’m not talking about floating above the ground with your legs in the lotus position and everything smelling of incense and flowers. That may work for some and that’s awesome.
However, I’m talking about stopping whatever you’re doing, completely changing the thoughts that are going on in your mind and telling everyone else to just give you a little bit of time…to relax and take that time to stop thinking about anything that’s bugging you.
Start thinking about what you want to see done in your life, especially right now, and then when you’re really relaxed think about at least one thing you can do to immediately work towards that thing.
2) List Your Blessings In Your Mind
Now don’t go yelling this to everyone around you in a 30′ radius, but run through the things that you’re truly blessed to have and are thankful for. Have this mental list going on inside of your head and hear, and really feel good about each one.
Think about what it is that makes you feel good and anyone else that it might have helped too. Soak yourself in these good feelings and let them overwrite any other feelings that are happening to you right now.
3) Think About The Rewards Of Being Productive
When’s the last time you accomplished something really awesome? What did you, someone else or the rest of the world get out of it? Probably something pretty good, right? Whether that was emotional or monetary or otherwise.
Think of those rewards. Have those rewards in mind. Those end goals can help build your internal motivation and light the fire necessary to get more things done.
4) Take A Short Walk Outside
This is blasting the meditation method to the next level because you’re moving. You’re actively changing your state of existence. You’re not sedentary and completely involved internal to yourself alone. This is you out and about, having thoughts while experiencing the thousands of things happening around you.
Notice the colors of the plants. Notice the shapes of the clouds. And notice the smiles of the people jogging by. Be out and about. Remove yourself from the bad thoughts and know that your control is just a walk away.
Mood Is A Matter Of Method
It’s easy to regain control of your mood when you’re willing to try the four tips you just learned. You really can increase your productivity by meditating for a few minutes…listing your blessings in your mind, thinking about the end goal rewards for everyone and taking a short walk outside.
These tips are just the beginning of you being an emotional control master and getting more things done. I know you can, now get on out there and try some.
