So everywhere I looked, I saw Angry Birds this, and Angry Birds that. Yes, I know it’s probably a little old now, but, the point is, I was getting kinda curious. Understand that I don’t really play games, and when I try to, I almost immediately stop because it doesn’t hold my interest or I have different priorities. But, I made the leap and decided to install Angry Birds on my phone.
Five hours later, I decided to uninstall it. I couldn’t believe how much time had been sunk into this thing… and it seemed like that chunk of my life just disappeared! I was really disturbed by it.
I want you to take back your life and start applying them to things that matter – so these little things that have caused you so much trouble before, will be out of the way. Sure, entertainment and fun are important, but there are other things that are more important like your dreams, goals and family. Here are five ways to take back your time.
#1. Video Games On Cell Phones
Duh, right? That’s what I just talked about. If you’ve got any video games on your phone, I want to try and suggest that you uninstall all of them for at least three weeks. Yes, I realize this means whatever TV show you’re watching is going to be more boring, and that your time on the toilet is not going to be as involved.
Besides the sanitary reasons, I bet you get a lot more done by not having these distractions in your pocket and ready to go at any time when you could be doing something more useful.
#2. TV Programs That Suck Your Life Away
I don’t really watch TV anymore, there are a couple programs that I’ll invest some time in, but i usually watch those through streaming channels online and almost never watch the actual physical TV.
Don’t get me wrong, i do believe there are some useful programs out there that involve around educational use and mentorship; however most TV programs are a bunch of junk that rot your brain to complete craziness and takes up too much of your time.
Add the “no TV” or at least “1 hours less TV every day” habit to your plan. Give that three weeks and I guarantee, you won’t miss as much as you think you do. And don’t record it to watch it later, either!
#3. Dating Like A Crazy Person
Are you out, every week with a different person, and spreading your mojo through every outlet available? Whether or not you have good intentions, you might not realize that you are not focused and are completely spreading your emotional and mental energies all over the place.
By creating all of these ties that basically supply very little benefit to your life, you are taking away from relationships that you could be building in other outlets that will be useful forever. Be more commitment minded, be more focused on depth as opposed to breadth.
#4. Participating In Too Many Sports
I know a couple families that are like this with their kids, and it’s disturbing! There are three different games on every day of the week, including the weekends. Not only is it completely physically and mentally taxing on the kids, but the parents spend a lot of their time driving around and trying to fit in with the rest of their schedule.
This isn’t to mention the costs involved, the homework that’s ignored, and the friends that don’t get to spend time with the kids. The point being here is that, people are being spread too thin again at such an early age; it’s no wonder that they grow up with no idea what to do in life. Be more focused people.
Free Time ‘Hobbies’ Or Life-Suckers?
If your free time hobbies are sucking up too much of your life and getting you down, it’s time to chunk them. Get them out of your life and pay more attention to focused efforts on things that matter more.
Get rid of video games on your cell phone, watch less TV, stop dating like a crazy person, and stop participating in too many sports. These are just a couple of ideas of how people are spread so thin and aren’t able to dedicate enough of their energy in one outlet.
Be more focused, be more purposeful and get more out of your life.
