Do you sometimes find yourself sitting around without really much to do or really not sure what to do? It’s these times when your motivation and drive can be really low because unless you have a clear direction on where you want to go, you’re not going to go anywhere.
It’s possible to turn those downtime moments into moments of absolutely awesome motivated productivity. All you have to do is get a little bit of motion going and have a good idea of things that you can do in under 15 minutes. Have those ideas ready and you’ll always be on point when it comes to getting stuff done. Here are five ideas to get you started.
1) Breeze Through Your Social Websites
This is a 2-in-1 here. A lot of times people will spend 30 minutes to an hour or more on social websites, like Facebook, Twitter and I would even say YouTube…and basically be browsing around without any real purpose in mind. However, if you take that approach of 15 minutes for all of your sites combined per day, I guarantee you not only will you figure out how to weed out what doesn’t work, but you’ll be so much more focused in doing what you need to do.
2) Clean Out A Messy Drawer Or Cabinet
Sounds silly, but every little mess you have in your house and around your life is causing some strain on you in some way or another, most usually subconsciously. Having that mess that is in some way impeding the way you organize or keep your life straight is always on the back of your mind, so knock one out here and there.
3) Answer All Of Your Email Once A Day In 15 Minutes Only
Sounds tough and it is. And I’m not talking about your work email because I know that can be long and hard, but what you can do is, especially for the home email, is knock out all the super easy stuff in 15 minutes and save the really long complicated ones for later.
You’ll do a deletion of all of them that don’t matter, like spam, a delegation of the ones that you aren’t really able to answer anyway, a do-it now philosophy for the really quick ones, and to schedule it for later for the really long ones. You get to pick when you do stuff, you don’t have to answer to every beckon call email.
4) Read A Chapter
Pick your favorite book or pick a book that you want to read, pick one chapter and power through it in 15 minutes. Most small books, especially the newer ones these days, are designed such that you can make it through a chapter in 15 minutes pretty easily. Grow a little bit at a time.
5) Write Something To Get You Started
Most people won’t be able to put together a blog post or any type of written work in 15 minutes. It’s tough, but you can create a template, an outline or a mind map on some type of written work that you do want to do at some point in time. Put the planning down on paper and plan to flush it out later.
Be an Under 15 Minute Champion
Yes, it is time to take back your time. Have a list of these great 15 minute or less ideas, and you’ll never have a dull moment of unproductive wastefulness. Plan to breeze through your social websites in one go, clean out a messy drawer or cabinet, answer all of your email, read a chapter or get something that you want to write started. Use these ideas and start doing your life like you want to.
