Be Purposeful: 5 Tips To Stop Letting Life Just Happen To You

Some days it feels like you’re just coasting through and aren’t very sure of where you’re going. The day just seems to happen and nothing you do changes the path that you’re on. It’s like a stream of infinitely powerful water pushing your little boat wherever it wants to go.

Be Purposeful: 5 Tips To Stop Letting Life Just Happen To You

Surf. The best button on the dang thing. Just hit and see what happens. OH WAIT – NO. This article is about GETTING RID of that button.

Rocks, sticks, and other horrible obstacles are always in the way and it seems like there’s nothing you can do, but this doesn’t have to be the case. You can live your life purposefully with these five tips to stop letting it just happen to you. In order for you to regain control and increase your self-worth, you need to incorporate these in your life.

1. Get A Journal, A Phone App, Or A Recorder

This is providing yourself with the tools necessary to record your lessons learned, the things that are happening to you and the achievements you have. Once you start paying more attention to these events in your life, small or big, that make a difference then you’ll be able to focus on them and eventually bring your focus on the good ones that boost your forward.

2. Keep Track Of Your Accomplishments

After you’ve gotten in the habit of recording the things that happen in your life, then you need to start paying attention to the accomplishments and the things that move you forward. Keeping great interest and records of the accomplishments, successes, and the lessons learned will help you to your goal.

3. Write Down Lessons Learned From Failures

This isn’t saying keep all failures out of your journal or your recording app, and this is saying for you to record your failures, but not as failures. Instead, record them as lessons learned. What can you pull out of those events to use to better your life and to help you avoid or protect yourself from those failures in the future? Use them as chances to grow. Having this record of growth opportunities will give you this bank of knowledge to work on later.

4. Practice Your Lessons Learned

Now that you have this bank of lessons learned to go by, you can actually turn through them and see which ones seem to make the most difference in your life. Start there, and start doing them more often. Include these in your daily routine and how you get to the accomplishments that you plan for the future.

5. Start Helping Other People

After you’ve gone through all of these routines and gotten the information to make your life better, it’s time to share. They say you really don’t understand anything that you come across until you take the time to teach it to someone.

Here’s your chance to take the experiences that you’ve learned and use them to help someone else in their growth path, whether that’s self-improvement or career development. You have this information that you worked so hard to get, it’s time for you to share and grow. And, hey, if you’re good enough at it, you might be able to do it as your job and get compensated for it. That wouldn’t be the reason you’re doing it, but it’d be a nice bonus, wouldn’t it?

Be Your Own Purpose

It’s time to start being purposeful and use these five tips to stop letting life just happen to you so you can be more happy and effective. You need to get some type of recording tool to capture the things that happen to you. Keep track of your accomplishments, write down your lessons learned from your failures. Practice those lessons learned and start helping other people more. Do these things and it’s a sure thing that your life will increase.
