It seems like you can’t do anything right some days, right? No matter how much effort you put into it, no matter how many times you try, and no matter how many people are there to help you, some days just don’t go very well.
Well, now is the time to go up and above your current routine solutions, and look for new ways to achieve your goals. Whatever you’re doing now is probably not working very well.
I think this has been misquoted, but it’s believed that Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing things the same way, and expecting different results.” Whatever you’re doing that has helped you – or hurt you – to lose your internal motivation needs to be fixed. Failure happens, and it’s time to go at it a different way. I’ve got five for you, right here.
#1: Decide Where You Made Your Mistake
Mentally replay the movie that is the event you just went through. Watch the entire thing from a third-person perspective, and see where exactly things went wrong. Feel, experience, and notice the details of this movie while you watch it. Really pinpoint where you think things went the bad direction.
#2: Write A Plan To Try Again, But With Different Results
Now that you have a greater understanding of just about where and when the problem happened, come up with a quick, three- to five-step plan on how you can try again but with different, more positive results. Make it up, but make it work. Figure out where you want to be, and come up with the steps that will get you there, even if you don’t know if it will work.
#3: Talk To Someone You See As A Mentor
There are tons of people that aren’t as good as you at certain things. Likewise, you’re not as good at certain things as tons of other people out there. Look to the people that have experienced what you went through, and see what kind of advice they can give you.
Be respectful of their time because they’re helping you, but ask them two or three very-targeted questions about your problem and see what kind of life-changing nuggets of wisdom they can give you.
#4: Ask The Opinions Of Friends And Family
Your friends and family know you better than anyone else. They probably know you better than you do, in certain aspects of your life. Use their very close relationship – but third-person perspective – to get a better understanding of where you’re at in life.
They might have a couple of secret or unknown pieces of information that really help you get a better understanding of anything that might be funky in your life.
#5: Surround Yourself With Positive People
At the end of the day, anybody that’s supplying any type of negative or unhealthy energy to you is only doing you a disservice. That negativity really drives down your motivation, and sucks the life out of you.
You need to surround yourself with people that are looking to give you energy, and to lift you up and keep you driving forward to the goals that you want to succeed in.
Let Internal Motivation Back Into Your Life
There’s no secret that failure happens. It makes us lose the internal motivation we need to get things done. Figuring out how to overcome that loss of internal motivation is a big step in life that we all need to achieve.
You can be there when you decide where exactly you made the mistake. Write a plan to get different results when you try again. Talk to someone you see as a mentor. Ask the opinions of friends and family, and surround yourself with positive people.
It doesn’t take much to come to the motivated, awesome drive that you need to do what you need to get done in life, when you keep focused on overcoming those things that have caused problems in the past.
Drop the routine you have now; replace the habits that aren’t working for you, and you’ll have no problem being motivated again.
