You ever feel like you have too many things to do? Or too many projects on your plate? And you just want to go blank, and kind of give up for the day? This is something that happens once you get to a point in your career in life, where you have a lot of responsibility, and people have come, to rely, on what you do.
This is not a bad thing. This is people trusting your input and output, and using it to get the things they need to get done. It’s kind of flattering really. However, sometimes, you just don’t want to be flattered so much. Hard work, can really kill your overall mood, and motivation. I want you to keep these three things in mind, the next time you need an extra boost.
Number One, Look For Ways To Be More Efficient
Can you delegate some of the tasks that are on your plate, to people that are more proficient, in that task? Are you able to schedule some of the bigger things and break them down into more manageable chunks? Are you able to get with your boss or other leaders around to see if there are resources and tools that can help you achieve things in a much better manner? Now’s the time to look for tools, resources and methods that help you shave off that extra 10 or 20 percent, on each task, so the overall gain is exponential.
Number Two, Look For Ways To Involve Others
This isn’t just the delegation I just talked about, this is working as a team on gigantic projects, or getting the emotional support from people that have gone through this before. It might also even involve talking with your closest mentor at work to see what your next step should be.
Instead of focusing on the overall picture and how you can get it done by yourself. What you might need to get done is talk with someone who’s been there before so you can just get the next step. Don’t get over burdened by the details, just get to the next step.
Number Three, Look For Tools That Work
Chances are, you’ve used the standard array of office, Microsoft office tools. This is Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, et cetera. These are tools that help you do things that used to be much more difficult. Excel used to be paper and pencil, but now you can do thousands of calculations in a split second. The same thing for Outlook, you’re able to do to-do lists, calendar reminders, recurring tasks, meetings, emails, notes and all kinds of other things.
You can boost your overall efficiency and productivity by more properly using the tools that you have available. This might mean you need to take a training class or get help from your local office product expert. But every little minute you can put into optimizing the tools that you already use, or in learning new tools, will bring in geometric growth in your output later. It’s worth the effort.
Work Smarter People!
Stop letting hard work kill you and take over your life. Three things that you need to keep in mind to up your overall productivity and motivation, are to look for ways to be more efficient, to look for ways to help others be involved and to look for tools that work for you. Keep these things in mind and it’s time to take back your life and be more awesome.
