How to be Great at Knowing What Customers Want

Businesses need to know what a customer wants in order to help them and create trust. So, what they will often do, is communicate to them, ask them what they’re looking for, and teaching their employees empathy. Empathy is the ability to walk in someone else’s shoes.

I have often, as a simple cashier or sales associate had to deal with this issue. Sometimes a customer cannot explain what they want fully. Other times, what a customer truly wants is for you to tell them what they want.

I think it is so important to be flexible. Listening to your customers and responding to what they want means not being so caught up in your own vision that you can’t hear them. Also, just pay attention to your customer. Observe them. What do they seem to like?
