Knowing What Customers Want
In a few words, can you describe what is the biggest reason you think this topic is important?
Knowing what customers want has many of advantages. The most obvious advantage is that a better understanding of customers will enable a business to know how to either better serve them and therefore make them happier. This way, a customer will enjoy their experience and therefore want to come back to your business.
How could this subject help you or someone you know change your life for the better?
It’s not hard knowing what customers want if you just ask them. most of the time it’s just wanting something bigger, better, faster. so many companies fail or are on the path of failing by either assuming what they want or thinking that they don’t actually know but there are people who do in fact know what they are talking about and it’s important to recognize that.

Knowing what customers want will make someone more in tune with the needs of the consumer. It will also make them more qualified which can help them improve their quality of life. Knowing how to understand what your customer wants will also help to see the point-of-view of someone else. It will give a person more empathy for others.
Think of your daily routine – how does this topic fit into the overall scheme of things?
If you know anyone who works in marketing or advertising, you could ask them how they decide to market products. You can find market research websites and see how you can register to conduct surveys. I’m also pretty sure there are books you can read about how consumer product companies make decisions.
With this subject as the target, what learning methods or resources would you suggest?
There are several ways that you can find out what customers want. First, you can do surveys or questionnaires to ask them. You can also observe their shopping habits to see what they buy. You can also interview random customers and get their opinions on products.
What type of person really needs a big boost of help regarding this topic?
Electronics stores should study differences in demographics and uses to better match customers to their product. Kitchen equipment salesmen should find out how the customer wishes to spend time in the kitchen before recommending products. Exercise equipment salesmen should spend time learning about the customers before making recommendations.
Please tell us a few ways we can use this topic in our lives.
The person who’s interested in learning more about knowing what customers want should not totally disregard their own feelings about what they would want as a customer. They should use their own common sense and social skills and apply that to the research.
Please, let us know what you think is the biggest problem related to this topic?
I feel you shouldn’t assume to know what they want. There are different types of customers, and I have seen the ones that know what they are getting as they walk through the door. If you try to pry too deeply and try and throw more/different things in their arms, they will DEFINITELY not appreciate that.
With the right skill level in this topic, what kind of success can one expect?
I would start with questions. It doesn’t matter what I want to say if I don’t know how to apply it to the customer. The only way to know how to do that is by asking questions. I would rather spend the entire meeting getting to know the customer and never mention the product than spend waste the whole time talking about a product that is irrelevant to the buyer.
How would you recommend people get started on this topic?
Attempt to think like your customer. What are they looking for. Why do they need the product you are selling? Track customer behavior. What are they buying? What are the saying about the things they are buying and about your service? Give Your employees feedback and have them give feedback to each other.
