As a worker in the healthcare field, patients are our customers. As such we do research on certain factors which influence patients healthcare outcomes. Furthermore, we also research ongoing medical therapies that would benefit the patient, I.e., the customer.
I feel it is very important for product designers to research the ways customers will be using the product. It will improve safety to see how people interact with the product. Also, the producer must meet the needs of customers or they will receive no repeat business.

What do you think is the most important thing about this topic?
Understanding your customer is key to knowing what they want. For example if you know that your customer is a health nut you wouldn’t try selling them McDonald’s. it is all about knowing who your customer is and finding ways to cater to their personality and desires.
Can you give me an example of how this topic could change someone’s life?
I am not sure customer research can make lives better. I think it can make companies more efficient and profitable. Customer research, will show which demographics prefer different products but I am not sure how that makes lives better, even more choices doesn’t equate to a better life in my opinion.
Could this topic help regular people like me and you be better at what we do?
Researching what makes customer’s happy is simply researching what makes people happy. Customer’s are just a certain type of people. Learning about what they want and do not want makes will not only make someone better in sales, but it will likely give them a more human approach to all that they do.
How could the average person plan to bring this topic into the stuff they do on a daily basis?
Simply start asking your customers about themselves and doing casual research on who they are and how they found out about you. Find out what particularly drew them to you. Also, you might want to do some mapping work to find out where especially your customers come from.

Use extra time to use the internet to research people in your target market. If you’ve got better access to these people, then ask the customer questions directly. You can take it further by planning to research their buying patterns and behavior.

Restaurants can benefit greatly from customer research, particularly struggling ones. Grocery stores could use help learning about this topic. Health care providers need help understanding customers.

Customer research can be used for a variety of purposes. It can give insight into what customers buy as well as why they buy certain products. It can also be used to improve services offered to customers.

I think you should be careful in creating goals as to avoid wasting time on unnecessary research. Be open to outcome and don’t make assumptions. And overall when finished with research, don’t dismiss it.

I would be certain to reach my target demographic first. I’d reach out to other demographics in hopes of securing new target consumers. I’d be sure to carefully weigh all opinions.

Advertise on internet forums that are related to what you’re interested in or targeting. It can be hard to plan but one of the best methods is by word of mouth. You can do this by becoming a brand advocate.
