In my opinion, enhancing personal creativity is the act of finding something that utterly inspires you and drives you to create. It can be a song, a piece of artwork, a book, a movie; just something that makes you want to take that thing and make it your own somehow. It’s not to please anyone else but yourself, and that’s what makes it personal creativity.
Nobody wants to be stuck in a rut in life, but this can happen. Being personally creative is a way to get out of a rut because you can find new ways to do the same tasks, or new tasks. Things become less bland when you add a creative twist to them, and bland things are boring, and boring things are not as much fun. So let’s top being boring and start being more fun, am I right?!
This blog article is a branch out to life-optimizing readers like yourself that were kind enough to do a little question and answer interview survey with me. I’m still working on my interview skills (and some of these were done via email/not-in-person!), but I do promise good, raw, and honest answers from normal people like you and me. I do my best to NOT filter these answers, except for the bad words and hateful speech (which doesn’t happen often).
Topic of Interest: Enhancing Personal Creativity
‘R’ = Richard N. Stephenson (me!)
‘I’ = Interviewee (anonymous by request unless otherwise noted)
R: Give an example of enhancing personal creativity that has inspired you (from either internet/mainstream media examples or personal examples).
I: Personal creativity is enhanced through reflection so I am inspired by stories of people who come to accept their flaws and learn how to simply live with them instead or trying to pretend they don’t have flaws. Our bad habits are just that, habits. And it takes time to let go of a habit. So everyone around me working on their mental and physical capacities through meditation, yoga, and, art, inspire me every day.
R: How do you think a better understanding of enhancing personal creativity would help other people in their personal or professional life?
I: It would help by making people’s lives feel more meaningful. It would provide people with a new way to look at the world, and could even help people who may have issues with depression. An effect such as this would have a huge impact in both personal and professional life. Having a better outlook toward life is crucial in both these aspects of life.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity has helped you professionally or personally.
I: Personal creativity is needed for me as I am a computer programmer. Learning to expand my ideas and thinking outside the box helps train the mind in order to create ideas. Personally, personal creativity is always used especially when I am at home learning new computer languages and it helps interconnect the ideas I apply at home to work. Professionally, I always have to use it so it’s best to train my brain at home and apply it in the office setting.
R: Describe at least one way you think enhancing personal creativity could cause trouble or hurt someone in their personal or professional life.
I: The various methods by which we have to enhance our creativity all require some sort of examination of ourselves. If we are short sighted we will lament at how ugly the world is and here is where many can no longer go on. The blues are just too heavy and some walk back into regular life and others may take leave this life. Exploring ourselves inward and our situation is the pulse of creation, and this is a very painful and arduous process. Ultimately the path to pure expressions is immensely rewarding with living examples walking all over the planet. So it may cause complete life changing events to unfold but it may all be worth it if one perseveres toward their creative potential.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity has hurt you or caused you trouble in the past.
I: One time me and some friends grabbed some paint and started to paint murals on the street near the park. I thought our designs were very creative however the city did not feel the same way and we all got community service. I felt more creative but the trouble wasn’t worth it
R: How do you think enhancing personal creativity could help you in a professional setting? Why is that?
I: This could help by making you think about problems more effectively. When you can solve problems well it can help you at work. This is something that could make you succeed and possibly get promoted.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity could be useful at work. Why do you think this?
I: Personal creativity can help to increase productivity at work. When people are permitted to be creative in the completion of their work they are more likely to take a genuine interest in the work at hand. That is, they will want to do the work more so than if they were required to complete the work in an extremely structured manner that did not permit any personal creativity. This will serve to increase not only productivity, but also team-work and cooperation.
R: How do you think enhancing personal creativity could help you at home? Why is that?
I: Personal creativity is a way in which a person expresses themselves. By incorporating it into home, one is able to express who that believe themselves to be. When a visitor enters the home they are able to see and understand who you are.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity could be useful at home or in family life. Why do you think this?
I: Learning how to cook something new and interesting is rewarding. It helps everyone, from your taste buds to theirs. No one wants to eat the same 5 dishes for the rest of their life.
R: How do you think enhancing personal creativity could help you in a personal relationship? Why is that?
I: Whenever i do something creative I feel less stressed and more in tune with my emotions. Feeling this way helps me to be a better person to my mate. in turn my mate reacts and we have a better relationship.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity could be useful in a personal relationship. Why do you think this?
I: Sometimes a gift from the heart is the most cherished. A quilt that my great grandmother made me is one of my most cherished items, and I remember her always when I look at it. Giving somebody a gift that you have made (and made well) will stay with them forever.
R: Describe at least one thing you would like to learn more about enhancing personal creativity.
I: I would like to learn how to be a better artist. I’ve always doodles and made little drawings. Though when I try to make a real drawing it always comes out like crap. i would like to change that
R: Give your number one piece of advice for someone looking to learn more about enhancing personal creativity.
I: Personal Creativity is about looking outside the box in all ways possible. To do that you must not judge any impulse, idea, brainstorm, emotion, feeling that comes into or out of your brain. Everything is fair game. If you judge your creative input initially you kill it. Allow everything to come out good or bad and then objectively look at it, its function and aesthetic after you have put it to use. Be “free.”
