Being able to appreciate other people’s works of art is key in developing your own creative ideology. Most artists usually build upon or expand upon previous creative geniuses of the past, therefore I believe by learning and taking pieces of someone’s own work then adding your own flare/originality to it, is what enhancing personal creativity is. It is being able to make something that someone in the future can take from and build upon, just like you would take something from the past and do the same.
Let’s not forget to mention that enhancing your personal creativity can open up more potential jobs for you. If you are stuck within a narrow field of what you are good at or interested in, you will likely find slim job prospects. An individual with a wider array of abilities will have more available job prospects to pursue. It can also help you advance further in your career if you have a higher creative ability.
This blog article is a branch out to life-optimizing readers like yourself that were kind enough to do a little question and answer interview survey with me. I’m still working on my interview skills (and some of these were done via email/not-in-person!), but I do promise good, raw, and honest answers from normal people like you and me. I do my best to NOT filter these answers, except for the bad words and hateful speech (which doesn’t happen often).
Topic of Interest: Enhancing Personal Creativity
‘R’ = Richard N. Stephenson (me!) ‘I’ = Interviewee (anonymous by request unless otherwise noted)
R: Give an example of enhancing personal creativity that has inspired you (from either internet/mainstream media examples or personal examples).
I: Anthony Bourdaine is now a world famous chef. When he was a college dropout working on Cape Cod, he was forced to face that he was much limed as a cook. He proceeded to not only get good at being a chef (although self admittedly not anything grand or wonderful) but he learned how to become a media icon and mogul through his want to learn to write (as an entertainer) and is now famous the world over.
R: How do you think a better understanding of enhancing personal creativity would help other people in their personal or professional life?
I: A person whom is embraces creativity in their lives would thrive in both a personal and professional setting. Enhanced personal creativity helps individuals think outside of the box, which can create better solutions to problems in work and family matters. Personal creativity also helps define a person, which can help give an individual life meaning.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity has helped you professionally or personally.
I: Enhancing my personal creativity is very important to me and it has helped me professionally and personally. I’m a producer, rapper, singer, mixer, and performer all in one. I own my own home recording studio and various other studio components. Being creative is what makes the music in the first place. Professionally it allows me to produce a product that people will like and possibly purchase. Personally it helps me feel good about myself and use my creativity as since of therapy so to speak.
R: Describe at least one way you think enhancing personal creativity could cause trouble or hurt someone in their personal or professional life.
I: I consider myself to be a very creative person. I love art, music, theater, and writing. However, finding a way to make money doing anything creative is very difficult and in fact, I am currently unemployed. I majored in art and English in college. This has proved rather useless. I wish I would have majored in something that would have led to an excellent full time job. Instead, I can paint pictures, and write poems and plays, but I cannot afford heat for my apartment, or food from the grocery store.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity has hurt you or caused you trouble in the past.
I: At one point in my life i allowed creativity to be my only means of income. I sacrificed A position at a job that was guaranteed money for something that was based solely on my ability to sell my creations. In the long run I made a huge mistake.
R: How do you think enhancing personal creativity could help you in a professional setting? Why is that?
I: It could help because I would be able to bring new ideas to my workplace. New ideas can be what jettison someone into a promotion. A promotion would help me a lot because it would involve a raise and maybe better working conditions.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity could be useful at work. Why do you think this?
I: If you are doing something creative anytime whether it be at work or home, it enhances the experience and makes it more fun. This will make you more willing to do your job in the best way that you can. Also it creates a positive work environment and keeps employees happy.
R: How do you think enhancing personal creativity could help you at home? Why is that?
I: Enhancing creativity can help with solving problems and enhancing enjoyment in the home. Sometimes in the home you are faced with difficult decisions that do not have an immediate answer. It may be necessary to think outside the box to find an answer.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity could be useful at home or in family life. Why do you think this?
I: I have a friend who is a great example of this. She is an awesome cake decorator but has never taken any classes. She made my son’s birthday a hit, by making him a Jurassic Park cake. She used plastic dinosaurs, and decorated the cake with trees made out of pretzels and candy. They looked just like palm trees.
She also used chocolate Easter eggs as dinosaur eggs. Her creativity has made every individual’s birthday a unique and special event. I think anyone can make use out of being more creative – because it sets us apart as individuals and, at the same time, it helps us create things that make others feel more important and more special, due to the time and effort it takes to show creativity.
R: How do you think enhancing personal creativity could help you in a personal relationship? Why is that?
I: I think that enhancing personal creativity could help a personal relationship immensely. If you enhance your own personal creativity it will first and foremost encourage others to do the same. It will also allow you to come up with ideas for gifts that will touch the hearts of many and are fun and easy to do.
I also think that it could help social circles come up with fun and exciting things to do when everyone is in a rut of going to the same bar, restaurant, etc. weekend after weekend. It will also make conversation more fun and will create better memories.
R: Give an example of how enhancing personal creativity could be useful in a personal relationship. Why do you think this?
I: Honing your skills in creativity will give you many options for gifts and dates. If you learn to perform an art such as dancing or creating a wood piece, you have more options to create something from the heart that is priceless. It will be difficult at first, but as you continue, you will see the true happiness of your significant other and improvement of your skills.
R: Describe at least one thing you would like to learn more about enhancing personal creativity.
I: I love art, and crafts. I would love to enhance my personal creativity. I am often looking at crafts and think that I could make those myself. I think if I was to learn one thing about how to enhance my personal creativity, it would be learning confidence. I try to do different projects, like drawing, painting etc, but when I am done I look at it and think it is not good enough.
I spend too much time and energy worrying that my creativity is not good enough, or that others will think it is not as good as it should be. I think overall creativity is a positive character traits and I think if I could just have more confidence in my thoughts and ideas I would be able to excel in my creative endeavors.
R: Give your number one piece of advice for someone looking to learn more about enhancing personal creativity.
I: Know thyself. I can’t take credit for the phrase but this is indeed the most powerful tool one can utilize in enhancing personal creativity. Understand society, our relationships, our unconscious, all require vast amounts of reflections and contemplative and meditative practices that sharpen our mental skills.
Of course alongside with some sort of art form such as writing, drawing, music. etc. People believe they can understand themselves and the world without having spent a minute studying their breath. This is false. You must start observing within the basics process and patterns and move up.
