Some days can be more emotional and hectic than others. It’s those emotionally crazy days when it can seem like everyone is out to get you, even if they’re only trying to help. Our mind can play weird tricks on us when we’re down in the dumps. Here are three ways to regain your happiness and get your smile back so that you can stay strong and choose to be happy whenever you want.
1. Mentally Start Your Day Over
When you wake up in the morning you’re fresh. You have a brand new clean slate to work with. Nothing has affected your day yet except for the things that you didn’t deal with yesterday and those just won’t go away until you deal with them.
But if it’s 3:00 in the afternoon and you’ve had half the day to throw more weight on your shoulders, it might be time to just do a mental reboot, to sit there and say to yourself, “I’m going to pretend like all of this extra goofy stuff that has happened to me just didn’t happen. I’ll get the work and the necessary things done, but I don’t need all the emotional baggage I’ve picked up along the way. I can choose to reboot my day right now and go in fresh again.”
2. Go On An Ice Cream Break
Yes, yes, I understand. You’re lactose intolerant or maybe a diabetic and ice cream’s not the best choice. The point here is to treat yourself and to break the monotonous pattern that has caused you to lose your smile. Sometimes this is as simple as going outside and walking around the parking lot once or twice while you tell yourself some of the things you want to get done in life.
This is breaking the pattern that you’re currently in so that you can lift yourself above the situation. When you get out of what’s causing the problem, even temporarily, then you restart your mind and can see the situation with fresh eyes.
3. Do Some Purposeful Meditation
This can take some practice and real effort to get down, but it’s a beautiful exercise. I have a self-talk life mastery audio file that I’ve created and use any time I need a wonderful happiness and purpose boost. I have a link for it here so you can check it out if you like. Basically, it runs me through some of the most important things in my life and provides positive input and feedback to myself on my progress thus far, where I want to be, and how I can get there.
It may sound fluffy and not worthwhile to most people, but I put a lot of effort into designing this to work best with the way the mind works. And when you can discover what works best for your mind, in a mental meditation exercise, you’ll begin to see how useful of a happiness regaining tactic this is.
Have You Started Regaining Happiness, Yet?
It’s time to get your smile back, reset your day, and regain happiness that is your right. You can choose to mentally start your day over, you can go on an ice cream break, and you can do some purposeful meditation to get you off on the right track. Use these tactics and strategies to make your life more happy.
