You know those people that you’re probably friends with on Facebook and they seem to share every single little thing that they do, they think, and that they find on their wall? Well, I guess they call that a timeline now–shows how much I use Facebook. But, anyway, there are some people that tend to want to share every aspect of their life all day long.
You know, for a while it’s kind of interesting, but it doesn’t take too long to realize that people stop caring pretty quickly. I’m not sure if the people that post realize that, but I know I’m quick to hide someone that decides to share every second of their life with me. I know they have good intentions and they’re looking for happiness and fulfillment by sharing their life with other people, and I commend that part of the effort.
This article here is to help you be your own fuel for when you’re looking for real happiness in ways that actually work instead of needless Facebook posting. Here are three tips to get you started.
First Mistake: Stop Looking In The Wrong Places
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and all the other sites out there that allow you take a social journey with the people around you are nice tools but they pale in comparison to real life fulfillment and happiness. These are not, and should not be, your outlets for getting motivation and feedback for the way you live your life. They’re poor tools for that, but they’re great tools for when you already have the internal drive to do what you need to get done.
Second Mistake: Stop Looking To Find It In Other People
No one out there in the world is going to give you the validation and the motivation that you need to continue on your path to happiness. People can provide you signals, feedback, and information that will help guide you in your path, but ultimately it’s up to you to make the right decisions and to take the next step. If you’re constantly looking for direction and approval from other people, you will continually find disappointment.
Third Mistake: Stop Thinking That You Can Be Perfect While You’re On This Earth
There’s only one person that ever walked this earth that was perfect and that was Jesus Christ. You cannot be perfect while you’re on this planet. You can only barely achieve some sliver of the idea of the image of perfection and that’s so many levels removed from actual perfection that you should now be confident and aware that the best that you can do is only a shadow of the best that’s available. This is not to get you down but this is to let you know that perfectionism is only a deterrent to getting stuff done and it will not help you if you continue to try to be happy working through perfectionism.
Mistakes Happen – Just Keep Looking
The top three mistakes for sidetracking your happiness journey are looking in the wrong places, looking for answers from other people, and thinking that you can be perfect in all that you do. Take care of these mistakes one at a time and start working your way towards actual happiness in things that you can achieve with what you’re able to do today.
