You’ve probably said it before; I know I have, and sure we probably were joking, but who wouldn’t like to win the lottery? I mean it sounds nice, doesn’t it? Pay a buck or two and get this gigantic payback of millions and you’re set for life, right?
But have you ever sat down to consider what you might actually do with all that money? Where it all goes, and after you’ve had fun for a couple of months or a year, then what? What’s next?
Well, it’s time to get real and appreciate the good work that goes into everything that you do, that you actually earn. Here are three flat out lies about money and happiness that you need to know about and crush:
1. You Can Buy Friends
Unless your friend has started from a genuine position, I would be hesitant to trust any word that comes out of anyone’s mouth, that match you after you’ve fallen into fortune. You can’t buy good friends. You can’t buy people that actually care about you. This is something that’s earned, and if you’re too focused on money or they are too focused on money, it just won’t happen.
This is something that is nurtured, grown and appreciated over a long period of time that is much harder for someone that has things besides their good heart, to go after in a friendship.
2. Toys Are The Answer To Boredom
You’ve got your jet ski, your boat, your mansion and your Lamborghini – are you happy now? Are you more fulfilled in life now that you’re able to do the things that you’ve seen on those rock star programs? Are you more fulfilled in life because you’re able to chuck it up and spend lavishly at the drop of a hat?
No! It’s much like the first time your allowance doubled as a child. Sure, you could afford the next level of thing but guess what, there’s always something greater, and it kind of hurt your appreciate of everything below.
This is a shifting scale of want and forget of need, and it’s something you need to pay attention to as it most certainly will not do away with boredom. It will just make your boredom more expensive.
3. All I Need Is Just A Little Bit Of Spending Cash
Right! Just like the previous example, all you always need is just a little bit more, so you can get that vacation this year, or so you can afford cable for the next two years, or so you can buy this extra couple of clothes every other month.
Until you achieve that and you get to the next level and you realize, “Hey, I want a little bit more too.” This is a shifting scale of want, and without a greater appreciation of what’s earned and gathered, the motivation comes from these external rewards and it never ends.
See The Truth And Grow
You have to bust these lies about money and happiness. You can’t buy friends. Toys are most certainly not the answer to boredom and just a little bit of extra cash won’t do you any good in the long run. When you align yourself to goals, internal passion, and a path of true happiness that matters in life, you’ll see that money is just a tool to do the good deeds that you need done.
