Winning at life can be achieved by something as seemingly simple as getting more stuff done. But productivity isn’t just about getting any old stuff done – that’s called busy work. Productivity is about using the resources you have available to get the most out of what is the most important.
When you can focus everthing you have on the things that will make the biggest and most important impacts in your life, instead of all of the noisy garbage that fills in the voids, you will begin to see just how much more there is to get out of life. Being more productive is like a secret that you were never taught in school, but all of the super-successful people are well aware of it. Time to get some skills!
In this article, a gracious reader and champion for life-change was kind enough to do a little question and answer interview survey with me. I don’t claim to be the best interviewer in the world, but I do promise some good, raw, and honest answers from normal people like you and me. I do my best to NOT filter these answers, except for the bad words and hateful speech (which of course doesn’t happen often).
With that little blurb out of the way, let’s dive right into the content!
Today’s Topic: Enhancing Productivity
‘R’ = Richard N. Stephenson (me!)
‘I’ = Interviewee (anonymous by request unless otherwise noted)
[This interview is inspired and fueled by research done for my book: Quick Content Formula.]
R: Describe what productivity means to you.
I: Productivity means showing an outcome as quickly as possible. It means being a good worker who can actually create the necessary good in a timely fashion. However, while being fast is part of productivity, it’s equally important not to shirk quality.
R: Describe how productivity would be useful to people looking to change their lives/careers.
I: You would be able to get better and more worthwhile jobs. You would be able to have more free time to do what you want. You would be able to get better paying jobs because you would have a track record of getting things done.
R: Give an example of productivity being used that has inspired you (from either internet/mainstream media examples or personal examples).
I: Having a powerful computer with multiple monitors is something that has inspired me to be more productive. I can have multiple programs open at once and do multiple processes at once as well. Another area is my smartphone and multitasking. I love that I can do more than one thing at a time, my brain works fast and my computer/phone should too.
R: How do you think a better understanding of productivity would help other people in their personal or professional life?
I: A better understanding of productivity can really increase ones success as productivity is the key to time management and leads to getting more done. In personal life it can also really help in relationships by making more time for fun as opposed to always be focused on serious things.
R: Give an example of how productivity has helped you professionally or personally.
I: Productivity can help one out in any situation. I mean this mTurk hit is a perfect example the better and quicker i fill out these responses through productivity the more money i can earn the better off i am.
R: Describe at least one way you think productivity could cause trouble or hurt someone in their personal or professional life.
I: It can lead to stress. Stress can be have negative effects on a person’s ability to enjoy their personal or professional lives. Stress can also lead to potential health problems.
R: Give an example of how productivity has hurt you or caused you trouble in the past.
I: Being unable to produce fast enough at work has cost me a job. This is because they needed people who were able to produce more than I could. Unfortunately, that hurt my pocket book.
R: How do you think productivity could help you in a professional setting? Why is that?
I: I think that it can help you by allowing you to get more work done. Not only that, but in my experience, your coworkers will like you better if you are productive. Your boss will probably also notice this, and therefore you are in a position to collect a raise.
R: Give an example of how productivity could be useful at work. Why do you think this?
I: Productivity can be extremely useful at work, as it allows more work to be done in a shorter amount of time. This helps to increase the benefits returned from the work done in a period of time. In addition, it helps to promote a positive work environment, as feeling productive has a way of making people feel better about themselves.
R: How do you think productivity could help you at home? Why is that?
I: I feel that it can motivate more in cleaning.I feel that it can help me stay entertained and sleep well.I think it can help me do more interesting things (such as reading) instead of watching TV.
R: Give an example of how productivity could be useful at home or in family life. Why do you think this?
I: In any family consisting of more than two people, time becomes less and less available because of responsibilities, deadlines, required free time, hobbies etc. If you can’t be productive in juggling all of these things, you won’t accomplish all that needs to be done in the day and you’ll waste your relaxation time trying to be more productive tomorrow.
R: How do you think productivity could help you in a personal relationship? Why is that?
I: productivity in a relationship can progress it faster. being in one phase of a relationship for too long can cause a feeling of being stagnant. avoiding this feeling can make a better relationship.
R: Give an example of how productivity could be useful in a personal relationship. Why do you think this?
I: You would be able to demonstrate the ability to get things done to your partner, responsibility and dependability. No one want to be with someone that sits around all day and does nothing.
R: Describe at least one thing you would like to learn more about productivity.
I: I would like to learn the best way to organize the day’s tasks into one simple place and how to plan these tasks in an order that is the most productive.
R: Give your number one piece of advice for someone looking to learn more about productivity.
I: Use your smart phones calendar to set your schedule and stuck to it.
