The first couple of years of my business were done pretty nilly-willy. Sure, I had kind of a overview understanding of what I needed to get done and how to get it done, but I didn’t have a repeatable process in place. After some time, I decided to create and implement standard operating procedures for my business.
This awesome idea enabled me to have reproducible results and I was actually able to scale my input by outsourcing tasks that I didn’t need to be doing myself. If you want to be more efficient and start to focus on growing everything that you do, then there are three training program objectives you need to keep in mind for any learning you’re interested in.
#1: Leverage learning for all
If there is any training you are interested in or doing there’s a good chance that other people are interested in doing it, too. By creating any type of program or learning material in a reproducible format you’re putting input into a process one time and achieving infinite returns. You’re allowing more than just one person to benefit from what you’ve put together. This is the ultimate form of leverage, where you can input once and output many more times and all effective training programs need to understand this objective.
#2: Align efforts with purpose
If a clear goal is not in mind for a training program it will not go anywhere. Understanding the purpose and the end goal for every step along the way in a training program is essential, not only for the people making the program but for the people taking the training, too. Set their expectations right! Putting in a little bit of extra effort into aligning everything that you do towards that goal and purpose will increase the effectiveness of the output by many times over.
#3: Increase overall effectiveness
The main goal of any training program is to teach somebody something. Why do you teach somebody something? It’s so that they can learn about something they’re not skilled in. So what, right? People want to learn these new things so they can do more things or so they can increase the effectiveness of what they do.
Unless a person is an expert in a field or task at hand there’s always room for improvement, and with improvement comes high returns and even greater self-worth to the person doing the task. A greater understanding of how things work allows people to hone their craft and do things more effectively. It’s win-win all the way around.
Keep Your Objectives In Mind & Go
