I remember the first couple of years that I was working on richardstep.com, I was randomly posting about things I was running across and had no real focus or goals in mind. Is this effective in strategic web marketing? Absolutely not.
It wasn’t until I actually started diving into courses and the mentoring of experts in this industry, that I began to realize that this approach was not best for what I’d planned. I was looking to up my efficiency and get the most out of everything I did. In order to do that I had to follow these three basic principles:
Leverage All Content
You may not know what leverage means, but the gist of it is, getting more out of what you put into something. So if you’re planning on making a blog post, go ahead and get in front of the video camera and record yourself for the three or four minutes that you need to get for four or five hundred words recorded and don’t stop there. Plenty of ideas for you here.
Take that video upload it to YouTube, and now you’ve increased your presence there. Pull out the audio from it and make that a short podcast for your website. Get that audio transcribed and make that the article on your blog or webpage, and then embed the podcast in the video, and then take all of that and turn it into a printable PDF that you can use as a bonus for your other products and offerings. Don’t do one thing without having other uses in mind. Leverage everything you do.
Spend Some Money
Sometimes you’ve got to spend money to make money (and try new things!). If you’re looking for the fastest way to grow anything that you do, you have to use what’s abundant to make up for what you’re lacking. Most of the time what’s abundant is money and what’s lacking is time and resources.
Take money that you have and apply it towards advertising or outsourcing tasks so that you can get more use out of every hour of your day. This is the only way to scale once you reach a certain point.
Track What Matters
There is an absolutely gigantic amount of information that’s available to you for everything that you do online and offline. The key here is to be able to filter through all this information and pull out the metrics that matter.
Don’t pay attention to the numbers that just make you feel better, pay attention to the numbers that indicate growth or shrinkage. When you have the numbers that mean the most for the growth of your business you’re able to track what matters and use it to bring it to the next level.
Be Full of Strategy, Not Empty On Tactics
Strategic web marketing is all about leveraging all of your content, spending some money to make some money, and tracking what matters so that you can grow. When you focus yourself on these three main strategies for your business, you’ll begin to realize positive results soon.
