How Do Your Expectations Match Perceptions Of Others?

When thinking about how you’re perceived in public, or I guess, restraining how you react in public to be more presentable. What’s on your mind? Clearly, there is a difference between those that are more comfortable doing things in public around other people and seemingly not caring about what other people think about them. But, what’s behind that? If you ask them, will they say, it’s because they don’t care. And, they’ll just act however they want.

I think that’s a fair answer and I’ve probably given that a couple of times myself. But, as I’m driving around this morning, I’ve come to realize it’s not because I don’t care, but because I care too much. I care so much about what ever it is I’m focusing on, that other people’s feelings and thoughts (so long as I’m not hurting anyone) aren’t as loved and cherished and appreciated as whatever it is I’m focusing on.

For instance, if it’s my family and I want to have fun with my kids. I’m going to act however silly and goofy I want with them, as I said, as long as I’m not hurting anybody or breaking any rules. It’s the same thing for praying like at dinner in public.

I’m sorry, I’m just going to give thanks to the Lord for my food. I’m going to do the sign of the cross. I’m going to say my prayers. I’m not going to yell it, shout it, make sure the whole place gets down with it, but I’m going to say it. And, it’s not that I don’t care what people think.

It’s because I care so much about Who I’m praying to that nothing else matters. So, take that tack on life. Get a little bit more confidence in it, more gumption to do more. Not just in public, but in everything that you do. And, do it, not because you don’t care, but because you care so much that the end result is just that important. Think about that and live well. Good day to you and and good morning.
