Here are the best of the best from my library of leadership, entrepreneurial, and business books.
The Future of Managementby Gary HamelIt’s very informative, highly encouraging, and really strikes a cord with my innermost beliefs on how companies, created by people for people, should be run. The examples and anecdotes were especially helpful and greatly appreciated. This book really got me jazzed up in what a company could be and that I will be the one to do it. Bonus!
How to Become CEO: The Rules for Rising to the Top of Any Organizationby Jeffrey J. FoxSome wonderful bits of insight from someone who has reason to speak. Short, well formatted, and wonderfully plain language. It’s good to see some top level justification for some of the things that I already do (and felt strongly about). I’m digging this little book as a “what to try today?” desk reference.
Raving Fansby Ken BlanchardI enjoyed it. A good bit of take-aways that rang true with inklings I’ve had for some time now. I appreciate the format and content as it seems to practice what they preach – it was quite enjoyable to read. I mean, it felt so easy to glide through the pages with so much welcome white-space, dynamite content, and useful wisdom.
Reality Check: The Irreverent Guide to Outsmarting, Outmanaging, and Outmarketing Your Competitionby Guy KawasakiThis is the 1st real Guy book I’ve had the pleasure of reading (listening in this case) and overall I have to say… I have a LOT to learn… though I…moreThis is the 1st real Guy book I’ve had the pleasure of reading (listening in this case) and overall I have to say… I have a LOT to learn… though I did get a 19/22 on his entrepreneurial quiz. :) I need ideas! Good stuff and though I did not come away with pages of take-aways, I did come out with a changed spirit and some wonderful insight.
Crush It!: Why Now Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passionby Gary VaynerchukLoved the audiobook – Gary did a great job reading this book – including the added goodies as he went off-track :). Good information here for finding your niche, building your empire online, and seeing it grow.
Leadership Is an Artby Max DePreeQuick, jam-packed, inspiring, and highly re-readable. A good mixture of “take-aways” and “you’ll understand this philosophy and how to apply it once you grow a bit” material. The formatting is so pleasant to the eyes and note-taking. And it’s from a good source of God loving leadership that has run tried & true for almost a century. RECOMMENDED for leaders, parents, and entrepreneurs.
