We don’t often realize it until much later in life but time is important in one’s life. Scheduling time makes it easy for people to manage their time well. This little bit of up-front work can really turn a day of unfocused events into a well thought out plan that gets goals accomplished.
You too can get this same level of efficiency by utilizing your time well for studying, using your time well so as to attain advice from mentors, and by encouraging your peers to manage their time well. We pick up the habits of those we’re around most, so you need to get them in check, too.
As a specific example for students, I support time management efforts a lot as it helps students achieve their goals. It’s a matter of instilling the desire to manage their time well for them to achieve ultimate success.

Time Constraints at Work
- A really ugly woman at work implied I was ugly while I was helping her, so I just left and helped someone else out. I normally only get told how good I look and I spend an incredible amount of time each morning on my appearance. She looked at a picture of my girlfriend and said “How can a girl who is that good looking, be with a guy like you?” and this woman is over-weight, has a lazy eye, wears her hair in some unexplainable mess and has a cruel nick-name based on how unhygienic she is. I’m just so flustered about it I can’t even think of the words I should end this with.
- All the busy work ihave been involved with has kept me very busy giving me little time to focus on my homework. Frustration is growing with all the things I have to do. Yet, I have very little time to do it all. I want to get everything done but it seems not tobe enought time in a day.
- At work I sometimes get dissapointed by myself and think that maybe I am not good in what I am doing. My results are far from being the best and I do blame myself for the lack of it. I think that I am shy and don’ t insist too much.
- Being at a meeting which was long, tiresome, not focussed and has not really anything to do with my work directly! It was frustrating because I felt I am wasting my time – the things we discussed took us 3 hours – they could have been discussed even in 1 hour!! There were no real results after the meeting.
- Deal with my ex being difficult and negative. We are raising a 3 year old daughter. I just want things to be peaceful and he keeps bringing up the past and not moving on which is very frustrating. I was not able to get back up to the mountains due to bad weather last night or this morning which kept me from working this morning and I have limited time here as I live between CO & CA so that was frustrating.
- Dealing with a co-worker that tries to get myself and other collegues into trouble for every move we make , she even times our breaks with a stop watch. We addressed the matter in a meating and she has only gotten worse.I always treat her with respect and I don’t monitor every move she makes.I find it disrespectful and petty , I do not want to loose my temper but it is becoming increasingly hard.It has gotten to the point where it ruines my day every day.
- Having to keep going to work with a random reduction of hours and slower traffic in a perfomanced based job position. My family simultaneously needed some financial help at this time and it was hard going to work daily and not really being able to help my siuation as it was a low traffic period for tv sales
- Having to manage mulitple deadlines, and not being able to focus on my most pressing job. It was like my attention kept getting distracted and the time left for the most pressing job kept getting less. Like I needed to clear all the clutter to focus. Also working from home and not the office was frustrating
- I got a new job at the restaurant,is not like the previous restaurant I used to work for, this new one have slow business, and sometimes I try to find something to do or get some of the prep ready for the next day,but even when I finish doing that,i still have nothing to do for almost two hours, and i’m not talking about one day, almost every single day,i use my strengths to not fall a part and stay awake and try to talk to someone, but I think this was really frustrating.
- I had recent surgery and did not recover my strength as quickly as I wanted to. I was forced to spend a lot of time resting on the couch. This was frustrating for me because I am used to being able to get up and go do things as I need or want to on my days off from work.
- I haven’t been frustrated by anything lately. However, when training a new co-worker, I found her lack of ability to focus a bit frustrating. It caused her to work many hours of overtime that were not necessary and I felt as if it were a reflection on my ability to train.
- I was asked to take over organizing and posting bills and receipts on the computer. It was very frustrating because it was let go for 5 months and I had to learn a new bookkeeping program and figure out the system the person before me used in recording. It took time and several mistakes before I got victory.
- I was trying to set up a new wireless router and every time I tried to connect it wouldnt connect to the internet. This was frustrating because there was nothing online explaining the situation or how I could fix it. There didnt seem to be any reason the router wasnt working and no matter what I tried I couldnt connect.
- I work as a night stocker at a home improvement store. The trucks of freight we get usually contain about 900 boxes along with various kitchen appliances and other large boxes. Last week one of the night stockers quit who took care of the busiest area of the store. A few days ago we had two trucks on the same night so there was double the amount of boxes we would normally have, which isn’t abnormal, but some times we would leave what we couldn’t finish for the next night. What made this particular night frustrating was that the store was going through its annual inventory so we could not leave any boxes, they all had to be put on the shelf. This, on top of being another person short of what we already were made this night extra frustrating.
- It was at work, where by I had to discipline a very close colleague, whom I have entrusted to execute his duties as per standard operating procedures. He took advantage of our close relationship but I debriefed him,I reminded him about the importance of his role as a taem player in the organisation, it was frustrating as I truly relied on his contribution for the mission to be accomplished successfully and timeously, as he was the more senior staff than the rest of the colleagues at that point in time. It was totally unacceptable that I had to write a report as a proof of verbal warning
- Pulled a tendon in my wrist and had to work with the pain. Don’t have time to go to the doctor and don’t know how to make the pain stop, so just managing with it till it’s gone or I can get it fixed. Frustrating that I don’t have time to do anything about it, and if I tried to make time I’d be missing some important events that I wanted to be at, and because I already went to the Dr about it and wanted that to have solved it. (Haha, felt good to express that!)
- Scheduling. I find it challenging to manage scheduling where I need to be and what I need to do. I have a part time job and a family of 3 great kids +1 awesome husband. I am always concerned I will forget to put something on the calendar, or double book a time or not leave enough time to transition from one thing to the next.
- Solving mathematical problems and numerical questions of accountancy was kind of frustrating because I had to do them on my own without seeking any help from the others. There were lots of questions to be solved. I feared that I won’t be able to complete it on time. As expected, I couldn’t get it done.
- Speaking with a colleague who assumed some things about my work that were incorrect, and realizing that it was not worth the time to explain or defend my work because it was not important to the goal of the task. This was frustrating because my work was based on misguided or little direction that was given to me, and the deliverable that we produced in the end was not based on the best thinking or the best work that we could have done (in my opinion).
- Study for exams at the same time managing office work and taking parents for check ups to the hospitals.. two different hospitals .. drop mom pick dad from office.. drop him hosp.. go to mom pick her up and pick dad.. and then sit n study and then morning again work! not easy!
- Take a break doing work to say goodbye to a beloved coworker. The reason this was frustrating was twofold. 1) I had a really important deadline that I needed to make and if I went to the goodbye party it would mean less time to make the deadline. 2) This coworker was amazing, and the reason they were leaving is because of new management, which no one wanted.
- The amount of work I’m asked to complete is to much. I am able to do the task, but I do not enjoy it, and need more time to my self. Give me a job I would like to do, and discuss when and how I do this, and I will happily finish.
- The most frustrating thing I have had to do is trying to pull together and re-organize an entire journal room by myself as well as fulfill all subscriptions for the new year. This was frustrating because in Africa, they don’t use the same kind of resources that we use in America so it was a lot of learning to do it a different way and accomplish it in a timely manner. But the work is finished and in the end you can see that the work was valuable to the students and makes is simpler for them to manage around the journal room!
- The most frustrating thing is uncertainty that happened in the office. The task that is given to me tend to ill defined and the problem is not clear. Before I solve the problem, I have to find what is the problem itself, and it takes time and energy, to just knowing the problem.
- The one thing that made me the most frustrated was having to keep track of a co-worker’s break times for my supervisor. It is frustrating because even though she is constantly taking double or triple the time given, she is never disciplined. I don’t understand why I continue being pulled into this conflict.
