Professional development is how you can gain more knowledge in your career path. You can gain more professional knowledge by taking courses that help you. There are also many books that can help you gain more knowledge about your profession and thus expand your knowledge. Many fields have some required in house training throughout your career with their establishment to make sure you stay abreast of any recent changes to your profession.
A person could go back to school to get an additional degree. This degree could be a higher education degree specific to their profession. On-line colleges and universities specialize in programs aimed at helping a person gain more knowledge about their career. A second way is to take in-house training (or out of house, if necessary). A lot of establishments have courses to help employees gain more knowledge in their specific area, whether the topics be on management or utilities.
All of this really relates to your personal situation. I have a friend who got a degree in Fine Arts. She later became a Human Resource person with a company. She went back to school to get a higher degree in Human Resources and related topics so she could continue to move up in her company. I personally have had to take many courses to stay on top of the latest developments with software and policy for the entities I worked for. It just depends on what your specific position is within a company and what your future goals are as to which path you take for gaining professional development.

Professional Development
- What career is the most suitable for me, what am I good at
- Complete a careers assessment test, the questions were too repetitive and not challenging enough to make you think it was just about speed and accuracy.
- Decide what career path to follow. I’m not sure what I want to do or what I will be good at.
- Not knowing which career direction to go into, i’m not the type of person who wants to settle. I have to make a decision soon so that my life can start.
- Uncertain about my career path, I seems to be to generalist than expert.
- What direction is my career headed as far as longevity and professional growth?
- I am starting a second career. I would like to know if I would be good at acting.
- Unable to progress in my career. I seemed lost as to how to develop myself further and where I want to be.
- Not being able to find a career in law enforcement as easily as I have found careers in the financial arena. It is frustrating because I would like to start the second half of my career as soon as practical.
- Trying to figure out next career move as I was just made redundant. Feel as though I lack direction at this point and career is stalling. Nothing is standing out as the right solution.
- Not being able to do my dream career, by being in the wrong career frustrates me.
- Help someone understand that this career might not be for them. Difficult because you crush dreams.
- Why have you decided to pursue the career you have chosen.
- I have not been able to grow in my career at all. And I don’t even mean financially. I just want to be challenged and prodded to be better at my job, but no one seems to care to invest in me.
- Looking for employment and determining my career path and if that path needs to change. If it does, what path am I willing or wanting to go down in order to be highly successful.
- I still don’t know what to do in my life as a career and time is running out.
- Job searching. I am unemployed with a successful career background. Frustrated by all of the online apps that are likely not read. The hiring process. The fact that it is employers market and the hiring process is so fractured, they are not sure what they are doing.
- I am in high school and am looking for a possible career path
- Repetitive work. Bored and do not foresee any good career progression.
- I am frustrated with the decision of what to do with my career. I hate applying for jobs and have been working for myself for the past several months but I am finding that I need to be employed at least for now.
- I just want to make sure I am heading in the right direction career-wise.
- Balance school, family life and dealing with the worry of landing in a career (either starting my practice or finding a job outside of the home).
- Deciding what to do with my life. I’m at that age where I need to decide a career but I’m just no good at anything. Right now, I want to cry because I’m just NO GOOD.
- Myself making stupid little mistakes at work. Not being able to decide on a career. Government and the fact that we can’t seem to work out a system
- The most frustrating was actually trying to find my place in the world and the career I want to pursue
- I was working around 14 hours a day and paid very low. I saw no development in my career through that job which was the most frustrating factor for me.
- The most frustrating thing I’ve had to do in the past was deciding what I wanted to do as a career because there were so many things I wanted to do, but now I have my career plan all figured out.
- Fighting through feelings of hopelessness and self-doubt. I am currently seeking a change of career and (still) trying to (finally) work out what I actually want.
- Communicate and influence individuals who are not open to changes that do not benefit their own career needs.
- The most frustrating thing I have done in the past few days has been trying to figure out what I wan’t to do as a career and figuring out what I am good at.
- If I would become a successful designer that I can promote myself and have my own brand label. If I can keep growing to be more successful in my career and if I have what it takes.
- I have been struggling to manage my work due to over capacity and poor job knowledge. I have been frustrated in deciding whether to explore other career paths or stay on inhopes of improving myself.
- The most frustrating thing about my current job is that I do not get to make many decisions without asking first, and it is a dead-end job with little room for promotion or career.
- Last month, I had a trouble with my best friend. I thought i understand her throughly. I thought she would agree to help other people but she didn’t. She chose another way for her career.
- I had to accept the fact that I was using people as a crutch, and I need to be single due to lack of confidence. I tried to lean on others to make my decisions for me, or play off of what others were doing, and get my motivation by making others advice my own. I realize I need to be more independent, and take care of my responsibility for the first time in 25 years. I was also indecisive about what I also had short hours at work, which gave me time to think on what I wanted to do for a career. Only to realize the answer was their, I was just too stubborn to see, I need to go finish my degree.
- I was working at a big company and left to work on my own. Things that I did very fast at work are now taking a me a long time (frustrating!) and I am questioning my fitness in my career (once again). This is also frustrating because I know that if I worked for myself I would be very successful, yet can’t muster the same motivation at home as I had at work.
- I’m frustrated because I live in a small (but lovely) town in Europe, where English isn’t the mother tongue. I have learnt the local language up to the point where I can communicate well, but my work/career options here are very limited because of my language level. Language courses are very expensive and I am stuck in a low-wage job. I have a young family and very little personal time or finances for starting a new career. This frustrates me because I want do something meaningful in life as well as being successful and I am approaching 40.
- The most frustrating thing I’ve had to do for the past few weeks was to keep going in to work, day after day, without seeing how my work was contributing to my growth and career success. I felt like I had stagnated and was no longer on a path to bettering myself and contributing to society.
- The most frustrating thing I’ve had to do is try to figure out what career choice I should make. I was offered the opportunity to try out a new role or stay in my current role. I don’t love what I do, but I really like the people I work with. The nice thing about my role is that it continually changes so I have the ability to dictate the things that I get to do every day. It was just frustrating not having a set goal and knowing exactly where I want to end up.
- The most important question I have running through my head is what are my strengths, how can I hone in on them and what are my weakness’? How can I manage my weakness’? Frustrating me lately? Working hard (at least I think I have been) towards a career and being overlooked, and type cast as an Executive Assistant.
